Fatal Stabbing Hearing
A Millcreek man is headed to trial on charges he fatally stabbed a man during an argument at a tavern last month. District Judge Paul Manzi ordered 64 year old Joseph Lumsden to face trial on homicide, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and weapons possession. Police charged him with the death of Gregory Pianka. At today's preliminary hearing the key testimony came from eyewitness Taunja Cornor, who knew both men. She said they had a verbal confrontation before Lumsden took out a knife and stabbed Pianka in the chest. She said as she was trying to stop the bleeding Pianka said to her. "I can't believe he just stabbed me. He stabbed me in the heart." Pianka died a short time later at Hamot Medical Center. After the hearing, Lumsden was returned to the Erie County Prison where he is being held without bond.
