Black Tar Heroin Seized in Drug Bust
 A big drug bust in North East lands several people in prison, and gets a very dangerous form of heroin off of the streets.
The arrests came after a lengthy undercover investigation.
As we've been reporting, four people are arrested, and investigators seized thousands of dollars worth of heroin.
12News takes a closer look at this dangerous drug.
Investigators seized 92 balloons and packages, along with cash and other drug paraphernalia.
The balloons contained Black Tar Heroin, with a street value of more than $5,000 dollars.
25 year old Jennifer White, 26 year old Chad Richey, 22 year old Mackenzie Loper and 24 year old John Baker were all arrested.
After the 3 month long undercover investigation, the District Attorney's Drug Task Force, the North East Police Department and Border Patrol, made the arrests as the suspects drove up to a home on Blaine street in North East. They allegedly picked up the Heroin in Columbus, Ohio.
Black Tar Heroin is typically found in the western part of the country, and is primarily produced in Mexico.
Those with the DA Drug Task Force say this is a significant drug bust, not only because of the amount of drugs seized, but because of the kind of heroin.
"It's usually associated with very hard core drug users. And if Mexican Black Tar Heroin is making its way into Northwest Pennsylvania, that is at least an indicator that there's some serious drug traffickers that are moving in to this area." Said Chief Erie County Detective, Larry Dombrowski.
Investigators say Black Tar Heroin gives users a much longer high. And it's typically more pure, which also more addicting. |
