Ready to Boom Over the Bay
Everything is ready to go, for the 3rd annual "Boom Over the Bay" this weekend.  CLICK FOR VIDEO The barges, the fireworks, and all the security, are all ready to go, for the city's Fourth of July festivities. This is the third year that the fireworks in Erie, will be launched from barges on Presque Isle Bay. The barges will be located midway between Liberty Park, and Chestnut Street. The barges are all loaded with the fireworks, and ready to go for Saturday's big show. Zambelli Fireworks company manufacturers the fireworks, and is in charge of setting them off. There's hundreds of fireworks shells for the show, and about 600 shells, for the grand finale alone. Organizers say it's been a rainy preparation week, but now, everything is set. "We worked between the raindrops. On Tuesday we went down picked up the fireworks and started loading it on the barges Tuesday evening. We had a break in the weather and we're already loaded and ready to go now." Said Jim Carbonelli, with Zambelli Fireworks. The free events start Saturday afternoon. The Flagship Niagara's boater's parade is at 2:00 P.M. through the Erie harbor. The Liberty Park Pepsi Amphitheater opens at 6:00. The United States Air Force Band of Flight takes the stage around 8:00, that's a 55 member band. And of course the fireworks Saturday night start at 9:45. And it's expected to be a 15 minute display. |
