Erie Storm celebrates two Players of the Week

Two members of the Erie Storm were named VidSwap.com AIFA Players of the Week for their performances in Erie's 41-28 victory over the Reading Express last Sunday.

Rod Rutherford (6'2"-230, Pitt) was selected as the VidSwap.com Offensive Player of the Week after directing the Storm offense on Sunday. He completed 21 of 35 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Rutherford also added 54 yards and two touchdowns rushing, highlighted by a electric 29-yard run on the first play from scrimmage in the second half.

This season marks Rutherford's return to Erie where in 2008, he led the franchise to a 7-2 record in nine starts, culminating in his selection to the all-AIFA team and cementing his reputation as one of the league's most formidable dual-threat quarterbacks. Rutherford had a standout career at the University of Pittsburgh where as a senior,he was named a semifinalist for the Davey O'Brien Award honoring the best quarterbacks in the nation.

Nick Terracina (5'8"-185, Youngstown State) was selected as the VidSwap.com Special Teams Player of the Week following a standout performance in his professional debut for the Erie Storm. He was perfect on all 5 of his PAT kick attempts and connected on both his field goal tries, from 24 and 30 yards out.

Terracina, a native of Lake Charles, LA, was an all-Gateway Conference performer at Youngstown State, where he continues to hold the school record for longest successful field goal at 56 yards.
