Around Your Home
A Feng Shui Bedroom

A Feng Shui BedroomThe bedroom is a pretty important room in the house. On average, a person spends about seven hours a day in the bedroom. It has become for many of us, the place we go to relax and unwind from the world, as well as where we go to get a good night’s sleep. That’s why it’s so important that you approach how your bedroom is designed from a perspective that keeps the importance of the room in mind.

Feng Shui is the Chinese art of interior decoration and furniture arrangement that strives to create an environment that is a harmonious surrounding that enhances the balance of yin and yang. If you have never considered Feng Shui when decorating and arranging your home, the bedroom is the perfect place to start.

Consider some of the following suggestions:

• No television sets in the bedroom. If you must have one in the bedroom, keep it in an armoire or cover it with a plastic cover when not in use.

• Do not place mirrors in a position that they reflect the bed. There shouldn’t be any mirrors in the bedroom but if you must keep one, make sure it doesn’t reflect the bed. The belief is that the mirror can attract an unwelcome third person to the relationship or if you are single, it can prevent you from attracting a partner.

• Place the bed firmly against a wall. Ideally you should place the bed against the same wall as the incoming door. If that isn’t possible, choose a wall in which you can see the door and that isn’t the wall that directly faces the door. As you lay in bed, your feet should never face the doorway. The belief is that when you die, they take you from the room feet first. Also, you want to be able to see anyone who enters and exits the room.

• Remove electronic equipment from the room. All electronic equipment gives off an electromagnetic field. These fields can cause too much active energy in the place you need to rest. The less electronic stuff you keep in the bedroom the better. If you use an alarm clock, consider switching to a battery operated unit. It will give off a lot less electromagnetic energy than on that plugs into the wall.

When it comes to Feng Shui and the bedroom, these suggestions are just the tip of the iceberg. But if you have never used Feng Shui when arranging your bedroom, these suggestions are a great place to start to see if you can make your bedroom a more restful and peaceful room.
