Stomach Pain: Stomach Relief

Stomach Pain: Stomach ReliefThere are a lot of people who suffer from chronic stomach pain. Unfortunately for a lot of these people, tracking down the source of the pain has been elusive. One overlooked possibility for the pain may not be in the stomach itself but rather a specific food that they art eating. The food I’m talking about is wheat, and the disorder is known as Gluten intolerance or celiac disease.

Gluten is a type of protein that is found in wheat and other grains such as rye and barley. And many more people than you would guess have a problem digesting this particular protein.

Symptoms of celiac disease include mysterious stomach pain and frequent allergic reactions. People who suffer from celiac disease can experience extreme pain which many times can land them in an emergency room.

Fortunately the treatment of celiac disease is fairly simple; just stop eating foods that contain gluten. The hardest part of that is the elimination of wheat bread from the diet, which is much easier today than it has ever been.

If you look around you will find a lot of wheat bread alternatives are available right at your local grocery store. Products like rice and spelt bread have become readably available and are wonderful alternatives to wheat bread.

But celiac disease isn’t the only disorder that reacts negatively to wheat products. People who suffer from IBD, ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease can also react very negatively from wheat products. The problem in these cases has a lot to do with the actual molecular physical shape of wheat and how that shape irritates the already tender digestive track of sufferers of these disorders.

If you have noticed that you have been experiencing mysterious stomach pain; considering cutting wheat from your diet to see if perhaps wheat is the cause of your stomach discomfort.

For instance; try cutting wheat out of your diet for a month. If your stomach pain persists you should seek medical help to discover the cause of your stomach pain, but perhaps wheat maybe the cause, and cutting wheat out of your diet is an easy way to find out if that is the case.
